Your Startup in The Netherlands

¿A one year residence permit to incorporate your startup in the Netherlands?

¿Taking your startup to the Netherlands is no big deal!

¡Here is the synthesized process to achieve it!

A few days ago, as part of our cultural campaign on Instagram we published a series of facts about the Netherlands, to which the audience showed great interest. For such reason we decided to make a post focused on one of the topics we touched on "the residence permit for non-European startups"..

In its traditional practice of welcoming entrepreneurship, the government of the Netherlands created in 2015 a new regulation that allows ambitious non-European entrepreneurs to apply for a one-year residency to launch their innovative business in the country.

There are a number of preconditions that we will explain below:

Find a facilitator

Your startup should be guided by an experienced mentor established in the Netherlands.

Qualify

To qualify for the startup residency permit you must meet a series of requirements. For example, how innovative your business idea is or its age.

Ambitious entrepreneurship

Under this scheme, startups are provided with the necessary support to mature into companies.

Application

If you decide to apply for the foreign startup residency permit you will need to know where to submit your application and who will review it. Your home country also determines what application process you will need to follow.

Permit extension

The residence permit for foreign startups can be extended after one year when applying for the self-employed scheme. As the startup entrepreneur you should receive a statement from your facilitator. Otherwise they must comply with the requirements of the self-employment scheme.

In summary, the points your startup should cover are:

  • Have your startup supported by a facilitator in the Netherlands.
  • Step-by-step plan on how to develop your idea into a business.
  • That the applicant has sufficient funds to live in the Netherlands.
  • Register with the Chamber of Commerce.
  • Have an innovative idea.
    • Operate in an innovative way.
    • Be a new product or service in the Netherlands.
    • Use new technology in its production, distribution and/or marketing process.

¡Get ready to enter one of the most competitive and dynamic economies in the world, remember that thinking in a startup is thinking big!
